Dr Orla Flynn, President, Atlantic Technological University
Dr Orla Flynn is the first President of Atlantic Technological University (ATU). Atlantic TU is a new Technological University for the West and North-West of Ireland. Atlantic TU is one of the largest multi-campus universities on the island of Ireland. Dr Flynn served as President of GMIT from March 2020 to March 2022 having previously served as Vice President for External Affairs in Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) for six years. Prior to that Dr Flynn led the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design for 8 years following periods as Head of School of Humanities (3 years) and Head of Department of Media Communications (5 years) at CIT. She was also a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computing for 13 years at CIT.
Dr Flynn holds undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Mathematical Physics and Computer Science from University College Cork, an MA in Management in Education from Waterford Institute of Technology and a PhD from the University of Limerick. Dr Flynn is a Director on the Boards of THEA, HEANet, and Galway Chamber of Commerce
