How lubricious polymers succeed in enhancing medical devices.
Dr. Daniela Pirner is Material Manager in the Chemistry Department of RAUMEDIC AG, where she is focused on developing customer-specific material formulations for medical and pharmaceutical products.
After getting her degree in chemistry with a focus on polymer science, she started her PhD in 2012 at Bayreuth University's Department of Physical Chemistry. The main topic of her PhD was the implementation of inorganic and organic nanoparticles into a polymer matrix. Using physical and chemical research methods, she investigated the influence of the additives and their interaction with the matrix. Since 2016, Ms. Pirner has been a valued employee at RAUMEDIC AG, involved in selecting and developing suitable polymeric raw materials for medical devices, especially for production via injection moulding.
