Karolina Łukasik, Scientific Research Coordinator, American Heart of Poland Spółka Akcyjna

I graduated from the University of Science and Technology in Kraków as a biomaterial engineer. I had broaden my experience during my internships in France and Finland. The knowledge and skills which I gained, led me to research in the medical devices field. Since 2020, I have been working as a scientific research coordinator at the Center for Cardiovascular Research and Development of American Heart of Poland SA. CCRD AHP is involved in clinical trials, preclinical studies as well as grants, and scientific research. Currently, I'm writing my Ph.D. thesis which is the result of the 5-years project - "Development and comprehensive evaluation of a biodegradable and flexible balloon-expanded endovascular stent based on thin bridges of high strength". Daily, I coordinate the preclinical studies. The cooperation with the start-ups as well as the leaders in the medical market shows me how crucial, in the R&D process, the preclinical trial is. It gives priceless feedback for further improvements and ideas for new innovations in the medical field.
