Lisa Byrne, Staff Business Analyst, Digital Solutions, Global Additive Technologies, Stryker

My name is Lisa Byrne. I am excited to be attending the Women in MedTech Forum this year, and honoured to be speaking. I joined Stryker in 2018, working as a Process Development Engineer in the space of Systems Integration. This role involved creating processes around the software systems used to run our existing and incoming additive and post-processing technologies in development, and later production. As of 2022, I have transitioned into a Business Analyst role in the Digital Solutions Team; driving the digital strategy for the broader Stryker Additive business globally. When I joined Stryker, I was finishing up my Masters of Engineering in Digital Health and Medical Technologies offered by the 3U Partnership (RCSI, DCU, and Maynooth University). Before this, I studied my Bachelor of Electronic Engineering in Maynooth University. While working in Stryker, I have continued learning in the spaces of networking, data management, and lean manufacturing - completing my Lean Sigma Black Belt through the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Management Systems in Cork Institute of Technology in early 2020. Stryker has given me the space to excel in my area of passion, which is advocating for females in technical roles in the STEM industry, and doing outreach work to offer insight into the STEM industry. In 2019, I created a chapter of Stryker's Employee Resource Group 'WISE (Women in Science and Engineering)' in my Stryker site, and helped grow the profile of this group across Stryker's Ireland campus. I am now taking on the role of WISE Ireland Lead, leading this fantastic group across all of Stryker's 8 sites in Ireland, and I cannot wait to give it my absolute best for the next 2.5 years.
