Barbara MacCarthy, PMO Manager, Johnson & Johnson Vision
Having taken a 12 year career break to raise her 4 children Barbara joined Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in 2019, as a project manager, through the Re-ignite return to work program.
Barbara Primary Role is Site PMO Manager with J&J but also finds time to be Site and Campus Ireland Champion for the Re-Ignite Program while also supporting the Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM program
Prior to working in Johnson & Johnson, Barbara worked for 10 years in Motorola Irl Ltd in Cork, where she held various positions of increasing responsibility with her final role being that of a Software Development Team Lead, delivering software solutions for Motorola's Telecommunications Operations network.
Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Physics from NUIG and a post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Limerick. Barbara also has a post-graduate Diploma in Project Management from UCC in conjunction with Institute of Project Management Ireland. In addition to being IPMA certified, Barbara is also FPX Project Leader certified.
Barbara's journey from work to family and back to the workforce is a personal story but also a story of how options should be made available for people to move in and out of a flexible workforce supporting a flexible economy.
