Clem McLoughlin, Manager, Medical Technologies Division, IDA Ireland
Clem McLoughlin manages IDA Ireland's Medical Technologies & Healthcare activities with responsibility for the US West Coast Territory (based in Ireland).
Clem has worked in IDA for 22 years across a variety of roles in IDA's Strategic Property Division, Regional Business & Enterprise Development Division and IDA's Medical Technologies Department. From 2017 to 2020, Clem led on IDA Ireland's Global HQ relocation in Dublin whilst also supporting the concurrent relocation requirements of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the Marine Institute. In May 2020, Clem took on the role of IDA Project Lead for the new national advanced manufacturing centre of excellence in Limerick; Digital Manufacturing Ireland (DMI) which was successfully launched in March 2023 by the then Minster for Enterprise, Simon Coveney . Aligned with the Irish Government's Industry 4.0 Strategy (2020-2025), DMI's primary objective is to support the digital transformation of the Irish manufacturing base, including the Irish Med Tech Sector.
As part of his current role, Clem's focus is on winning new FDI Med Tech investment for Ireland and growing and developing the existing Irish Med Tech base through various transformation initiatives including the sector's twin transition, talent development and R&D capability building. Clem is also currently focussed on aligning closely with IDA's sister agency Enterprise Ireland to develop stronger linkages and opportunities between MNC / Med Tech Firms and the Irish supplier base.
Clem studied Auctioneering, Valuations & Estate Agency in TU Dublin, Bolton Street graduating in 2000. More recently in 2018, Clem completed a Master's Degree in International Business from the National College of Ireland.
