Deirdre Mac Loughlin, Former CEO, Galway Chamber of Commerce

Deirdre, former CEO of Galway Chamber of Commerce, is an very experienced executive. She has been involved with the Galway Chamber for 10 years and an active participant on the Galway Economic Growth and the Policy and Strategy committees. Here her specific focus was on balanced regional development to enable Galway and the North Western region to unlock its full competitive potential. She has been a significant contributor to the Galway 2040 and Galway 2050 Chamber publications.

Deirdre’s working career spans over 40 years. She has taught at second level, undergraduate University and post graduate levels and has significant experience in curriculum development. Working in World leading companies like Hewlett Packard, she has 30 years of senior leadership experience in IT with a more recent focus on data analytics as Worldwide Analytics Innovation Manage.

She is a member of the National Research Ethics Committee for Clinical Trials – Investigational Medicines and a member of Tusla – Child and Family Agency’s Independent Research Ethics Committee.
She is a Director on the Board of Platform94, a centre of excellence for scaling technology businesses. She is Chair of the Board of WestBIC, who provides advisory services from concept development and business planning to market entry, commercialisation, and scaling internationally.

As a Trustee of Architecture At The Edge, a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to promote excellence in the built environment, Deirdre revels in the opportunity to express her creative side and to advocate for responsible architecture, design best practice and sustainable development
Deirdre is an Industry representative on the Western Regional Skills Forum, the focus of which is to identify, investigate and validate skills needs and support businesses in its region to assess and develop skills for their employees.

As an industry representative on the GRETB Education and Training Committee her focus is on empowering growth through education and training and to support lifelong learning and career development.
Deirdre represents a Galway City business focus on the Galway City Council’s statutory Strategic Policy Committee relating to the Operations directorate.
