Dr. Liz McGloughlin
Dr. Liz McGloughlin, Co-founder, Tympany Medical
Liz graduated from UCD School of Medicine in 2013 and completed Memberships of the College of Anaesthesiology prior to founding Tympany Medical. Liz brings deep insight into the challenges faced by surgeons and patients alike. Her journey from frontline medicine to med-tech entrepreneurship began with the BioInnovate Fellowship, where she collaborated with the Mayo Clinic to identify unmet clinical needs and translate them into viable solutions.
Liz holds a Master of Science in BioInnovation from NUI Galway and now serves as Vice President of Strategy, Clinical and Business Development at Tympany Medical. Under her leadership, the company has built a strong foundation of intellectual property, multidisciplinary expertise, and a growing product pipeline, with team members spanning optical physics, biomedical engineering, and miniaturised electronics.
In 2025, Liz was named a finalist for the European Prize for Women Innovators, recognising her impact on healthcare technology and her role in shaping Europe’s innovation landscape.
