Professor Austin Coffey B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD., MBA :
Professor Coffey is a senior member of lecturing staff and a principal investigator at Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland, with over 22 years experience in academia, commercial management and technical roles.
He is also Adjunct Professor of Engineering at Thammasat University, Thailand and has founded a number of companies such as CCT Plastics Engineering & Solutions Ltd. Having supervised in excess of 20 PhD / Masters students, he also founded the award winning M.Sc. in Innovative Technology Engineering, graduates of which are now in senior technical and management positions within the Medical Device industry of Ireland.
With a background in polymer materials and processes, engineering design, materials development, new product development, material analysis and advanced composite engineering for infrastructural and biomedical applications, he is a global consultant to multiple related industries. Past-President of Divisions of the International Society of Plastics Engineers. Past-President and Founder of European Medical Polymers Association. Keynote speaker and Seminar Leader for international conferences in Ireland, UK, EU, US, China and Thailand.
Professor Coffey is a Founder and Principal Investigator within the Convergent Technologies Research Group; an interdisciplinary applied research group in Infrastructural, Energy, Materials, Biomedical and New Technologies.
